Mattias Rättzén wins the IMC-prize and SCCL-prize
Mattias Rättzén, associate at Sandart&Partners, wins for 2015 the IMC-prize for the most outstanding master thesis in intellectual property law as well as the SCCL-prize for the best master thesis in commercial law.
IMC’s (The Academy of Intellectual Property, Marketing and Competition Law at Uppsala University) scholarship for the most outstanding master thesis in intellectual property law at Swedish universities in 2015 was awarded Mattias Rättzén for his master thesis at the Faculty of Law, Lund University. The thesis has the title "The Territorial Limitation and Extraterritorial Application in Intellectual Property Law and Private International Law". Supervisor for the thesis was Professor Michael Bogdan.
Advokatvännerna’s prize for the best master thesis in commercial law at Swedish universities in 2015, in collaboration with the Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law (SCCL), was also awarded Mattias Rättzén for his master thesis. The jury consisted of former Justice of the Supreme Court and former Professor Gertrud Lennander, advocate André Andersson, advocate Bengt Bolin and Associate Professor Patricia Shaughnessy.
The jury’s motivation was as follows:
"Using a very considerable amount of source material, Mattias Rättzén makes a skilled, well-structured and profound analysis of how territoriality affects the intersection between intellectual property law and private international law. The subject has lead to extensive discussion internationally and the legal situation has been described as both unclear and difficult to apply in practice. The presentation is at a high level and is a welcome contribution to the literature in the relevant field of law."
The IMC-prize, with a prize of 15 000 SEK, was handed out on 18 May 2016 at IMC’s seminar on health claims in food marketing at BRANN in Stockholm. The SCCL-prize, with a prize of 20 000 SEK, will be handed out at a prize ceremony in June 2016 in relation to a presentation to be held on the thesis at Stockholm University
