Karin Cederlund specialises in intellectual property law and marketing law. She represents clients in disputes concerning copyright, trademark law, marketing law, consumer law, e-commerce and regulatory issues. Karin also assists in contract negotiations within these areas of law.
Karin has extensive experience of litigation in the Patent and Market Courts and the Administrative Courts, as well as representing clients before authorities (e.g. the Swedish Consumer Agency) and self-regulatory bodies (e.g. the Advertising Ombudsman). She has also represented clients before the European Court of Justice and the Supreme Court. Many of Karin's clients are active in media and entertainment, information, life sciences, retail, design, fashion, e-commerce and regulated industries (e.g. alcohol).
Karin has been a member of the board of the Swedish Associations for Intellectual Property (SFIR) for several years. She is also a board member of the Institute for Intellectual Property and Marketing Law (IFIM) at Stockholm University. Karin has served as an expert in several legislative matters, such as the Copyright Inquiry, the Inquiry on Droit de Suite and the Reference Group for the Implementation of the Directive on Copyright and Related Rights in the Digital Single Market (the DSM Directive). In 2025, Karin was appointed by the government as a member of the board of the Swedish Arts Council. The Swedish Arts Council is the authority primarily responsible for implementing the government's arts policy and is active in all areas of the arts.
In addition to having a Master of Laws, Karin holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the Stockholm School of Economics. She is a frequently sought-after lecturer at universities and colleges, for example, and has also written a large number of articles.
Karin is ranked in Band 1 in Chambers, a leading individual in Legal 500 and in World Trademark Review (WTR). She is also ranked as a Trademark Star by IP Star/Managing IP and has been included in their list of ‘Top 250 Women in IP’ for several years.
